Hal Spacejock goes E!!!!

via halspacejock , funnily enough 🙂

Hal Spacejock is now available in e-book – that’s right, all four Spacejocks for a downright cheap bargain price and easy to read format! From the author:

As of today the rest of the series is available in DRM-free ebook format at a super-low price of A$5 each. (Approx US$3.50) That means you can grab the entire series for A$15 (approx US$10), which is less than the price of a single paperback, and way less than the international postage on one book.

Now for the good bit: I’ve wangled a superb freebie for anyone willing to share the good news. All you have to do is blog or tweet about the release of the Hal Spacejock ebooks, then let me know you’ve linked to the news.

In return I’ll email you a free ebook of Hal Spacejock Second Course, the second title in the series. Call it an incentive, a big thank-you, a ‘review copy’ or an outright bribe. I know Hal would!

There’s an info page which you’re welcome to cut and paste details from, or you can just link to it instead: http://www.spacejock.com.au/HalSpacejockEbooks.html (or http://tinyurl.com/sjbook if space is tight.)

You’ll also find a custom mission patch for this very important launch.

Why important? Well, if these DRM-free ebooks prove a big success then other publishers will follow our lead. That’ll lead to a bigger choice of titles which you’ll be able to read anywhere, rather than the current system of DRM-locked ebooks which only work on specific devices.

A vote for Hal Spacejock is a vote for cheap, DRM-free ebooks. To place your vote, buff up the credit card or Paypal account and step right this way.

Incidentally, on the DRM front teleread.org just published an article in which I state my case against ebook DRM.

Hal Spacejock four book giveaway competition

via halspacejock (funnily enough):

.. including worldwide postage, via the Ebooks Just Published blog:

I’ve just finished reading Simon Haynes’ hilarious sci-fi, comedy adventure Hal Spacejock and enjoyed it so much that I’ve decided to run a competition to give one lucky reader the chance to win signed copies of the entire 4-book series (print edition). Here’s the deal …

Read the rest on their blog, and please note that winning this particular comp requires skill, not random luck:

Entries will be judged on their originality, creativity and humour. Don’t feel you have to limit yourself to a review. Other possibilities include writing an extra or alternative scene, some witty dialog between the main characters, a back story, critiquing a particular passage, etc, etc. Believe me, once you’ve read the book, plenty of ideas will flow.

What a nice chap 😉

Please feel free to share the competition, even if you don’t intend to enter.

Hal Spacejock Crew post

Given how long I’ve known Simon and Hal and Clunk, I have no idea why I’ve never done this!

I joined Hal Spacejock’s Support Crew

I didn’t pay anything,
I didn’t sign anything,
and I didn’t read the fine print.
Just like Hal!

No space pilot can exist in a vacuum (hah!), and behind every successful pilot there’s a talented and dedicated support crew.

Hal Spacejock is one of the least successful space pilots in the history of the galaxy, and a worldwide support crew is needed just to get him off the ground.

What’s in it for you?
