I haz bin shoppin’! I have been looking forward to a good shopping day for WEEKS and today I got the last of my Ed QLD pay (just over three weeks worth of pro rata holiday pay plus loading – woot!) and the husband took the big boy fishing so it was just Missy and me, and she was in a great mood and happy to sit in a trolley for almost FOUR hours (I bought her a cushion at our third shop so she could lay her head down and have a rest/sleep – it matches her new bedroom sheets!). I had a LOVELY time. The Rockingham shopping centre is a bit of a construction zone, but plenty of shops to look at still. Managed to get my entire Christmas hamper to take on Christmas Day to the reliies (in a bit plant pot for usefulness afterwards), plus the DVD I wanted for big boy’s Santa pressie, the Mika CD I’ve been wanting for AGES, a picnic blanket for the beach, ink cartridges for the guzzling printer, and lot s of lovely other bits and pieces.
What I wanted but could not find in K-Mart, Target, the cheap shops, the second hand shops, Toyworld or ANYWHERE, were doll’s clothes. Missy has a number of dolls but some of them are quite little and don’t fit the regular stuff we have. I have now made one very interesting looking poncho from a pretty hankie for the favourite dolly of the moment, but I am going to keep looking for proper clothes. 🙂 I imagine I could sew them (yes, I know how) but I haven’t yet come across the sewing machine in the unpacking! And, y’know, not such a priority right now.
Things to do in the next week or so:
Wrap last few pressies (I love wrapping presents!)
See Bee Movie
Broadband and new phone point arriving between 8am and 12 pm Friday
JC appointment Friday 12pm
Catch up with family friends in Perth Friday afternoon
Go on dolphin/penguin/sea lion watching tour on Saturday for husband’s birthday.
Make nice dinner and cake for husband Saturday.
Have mini Christmas for husband on Sunday
Take husband to airport VERY early Monday morning (unless he’s on nightshift, in which case it’s about midday)
Enjoy family hospitality in Perth Monday arvo through Christmas.
Get together with WASIMites!
Head up to Greenhead (and maybe Geraldton) to visit rellies and friends.
Then, before school goes back, I need to start making some library connections in the area, start planning what I’m going to do with Year 9 regarding reading/extending etc in their lessons each week (think reading program but more fun!), get big boy’s uniforms for school, spend some time at the new childcare centre with the kids, husband wants to have some fellas round from work, and I’m hosting a West Coast Aurealis Awards party on the 26th of January! (Let me know if you want to come 🙂 )
This year I have at least one issue of ASIM to edit. I don’t think I’ll study as I have a feeling things are going to be pretty hectic with work and the magazine, and visitors and all that stuff. But looking forward to the year ahead!
Hmmm. That turned into a looking forward looking back kinda post. Fun 🙂
