‘Twas a busy one. Though you’d not know it to look now, had a big clean up this morning, got some groceries to tide us through the week, picked up some more book boxes from the removalists, then came home to start packing again. The truly awesome (and Benji!) came at midday and we got all the big bookcase and knick knacks (time consuming, with all the little fiddlies having to find their own boxes – A said it was like an IQ test!) cupboards packed. Thank goodness for , because it would have taken three times as long without her I’m sure! Yakking does make the time, and work, go faster :) We also went over the proof copy of Horn, and fixed a few final minor issues, and the redo of New Ceres Nights. Look for both at Conjecture next weekend! Horn looks freaking AWESOME – you should go order it 🙂
Friends from Queensland (over for treatment for lung cancer) also visited, which was lovely. They were supposed to be staying with us but between the various illnesses we’ve had and the move, it was easier for them to stay with rellies in South Perth. They might come stay for a few days once we’re in the new house.
And I think I’m all about bed now. Been a busy day!
Congratulations to Grant Stone, whose story "Under Waves and Over" from ASIM #37 won the Best Short Story category of the 2009 Sir Julius Vogel Awards. Well done Grant! My last effort over at Andromeda Spaceways has done so well out in the world … *sniff*
Cheryl Morgan live blogged the SJVs over here, so check it out for a full list of results. Thanks Cheryl!
I think I’ve made a good start today. Arranged for carpet cleaning of the house we’re vacating, picked up 35 packing boxes (ain’t gonna be enough methinks!), packed up spare room and one and half kid rooms, took kids to fun station for two hours, did the washing up (piled up pots and pans since Tuesday!) and washing. Planning on (finally making a start on some marking tonight, and getting the folding done, at least.
Pretty sure is coming tomorrow to do some tpp stuff and help pack (yay!) and we might get our qld friends at some stage too. Gotta love long weekends!

Today was a madhouse at work. Day didn’t even get started til about 10am thanks to ultra long assembly, then we had the demonstrator for E-library and V-knowledge (which looks BRILLIANT and such a good price!) for three hours. Then a packed house for the lunch break, and teaching and preparing for tomorrow’s Biggest Morning Tea functions. Now we’re at karate with eldest, then I gotta go home and bake! Busy!
