Supanova Perth

Is anyone going? I want to but with two kids in tow don’t want to wander about by myself. Have never been to one, so an experienced guide would be good! Darn you

for buggering off…!

And we have liftoff!

I just purchased flights for the kids and I for our Christmas visit to Queensland. Hubby doesn’t know what he’s up to yet, so he’ll cost us a fortune later on down the track! Ah well. I’m very excited to have my flights organised, because hubby keeps thinking the money in the bank can be spent! Nooooo, ‘fraid not 🙂

This is me meme

Okay, so I’ve been avoiding doing this one, but I’ve been so slack about posting that what the heck. Besides, I’m procrastinating about the 150+ book reviews I have to mark (!) and 20 or so stories to edit…

You know how sometimes people on your friend’s list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think “Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???” And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)”

1. First Name: Tehani – it’s a name few people spell or say correctly, but I’m used to it. I was called Tae when I lived in the NT (an adaption of a family nickname), “Flarney” by good mates at uni (long story) and a few people go with “Tee” which is simple.

2. Age: 33.

3. Location: Rockingham. After the “last move ever” that lasted six months near Hervey Bay. I’ve moved a lot.

4. Occupation: Teacher Librarian. Love love love my job and my school – I feel very privileged to enjoy going to work every day.

5. Partner: David – married three and a half years, together for nearly seven (still a little hard to believe it’s that long!).

6. Kids: 2.  Miss Bossy Boots is three in October and Master Geek in Training is six in November. Where does THAT time go?

7. Brothers/Sisters: 1 Brother – Todd – lives in Queensland with his English-born wife Clare and two boys (3.5 and nearly 1). We’ve never really gotten along, but Clare is nice and I make the effort for family’s sake.

8. Pets: One husband… No, none at present. We had a gorgeous little puppy early last year but she unfortunately had no road sense. And we had to leave our beautiful cat behind with friends in QLD (with five kittens).  We miss our pets, but can’t have them here.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
Small press publishing – keeps me very busy.

noted that he thinks I spend more time on my non-job (ASIM and TPP projects) than he does on his REAL job – sometimes it feels like that to me, but I love it. I love the people it brings me into contact with and the enjoyment I get from it.
Work – I’m learning so much everyday, and gaining so much experience, and loving it. I work with great people in a lovely school with lots of opportunities.
Kids – they are THE biggest thing. Watching these little creatures grow and change, and knowing that I’m possibly the biggest influence in their lives right now assisting those changes; the responsibility awes me. They are such wonderful and precious beasts, and I love them more than anything else.
Reading – I’ve always loved to read and while there have been times when my reading has waned due to external circumstances, these days doing reviews and judging and editing means I’m reading all the time. I can even say it’s for my job!
Planning for the future – every day it’s a struggle to make decisions about what paths we try to make for ourselves. We frequently have the same discussions about keeping the property in QLD vs selling and buying here, but while I love it here, I simply can’t match the property in River Heads and can’t justify it. Maybe it’s a head vs heart thing, but it ain’t happening yet. I wonder if/when we’ll go back to QLD to live, given our happiness here, but the parents factor into that decision a bit too.

10. Parents: Two of them. They’re both still alive and still together. Get along fantastically with Mum these days (ah, the cringeness of remembering one’s horrid teenage years!), and Dad adores the grandies. We miss them a lot and they are one of the very few factors tying us to QLD still.

11. Who are some of your closest friends? I have more friends at this point in my life than perhaps in any other – I think maybe I’ve grown into my peer group in some way! My best friend from high school, Rachael, is someone I still count as my best mate – she was by choice  my only attendant at my wedding.

is someone I’ve met in far more recent times who I hope will be a friend for life. And there are many many people I’ve met through SF, my work, and other activities who I hope to remain in contact with for many years to come, because I value so many things about them.

Disney meme

From Facebook, but what the heck….

Which Disney Princess Are You?

You are Belle. You are strong, deep, and you are not a slave to petty superficial things. You are independent and allow yourself to see inner beauty without sacrificing your values. You are almost too good of a person.
